Peter Reaburn   Retired Professor and Head of Exercise and Sport Science, Bond University.

Peter is a world leading expert in area of the ageing athlete and has written numerous books on this subject including The Masters Athlete (2009).

Yuriy Vdovychenko: SA Advanced Coach, Head Coach Woden Valley Swim Club

Yuriy is a highly experienced swim coach with expertise in coaching both swimmers and para-swimmers. His coaching career spans club, national, and international levels, including working with elite para-swimmers who have represented Australia at four Paralympic Games, four World Championships, and the Commonwealth Games. In addition to coaching competitive swimmers, Yuriy has also worked with triathletes at club, national, and international levels, as well as Masters swimmers. His athletes have achieved significant success, earning numerous medals in these competitions.

Coaching Credentials: Yuriy is an Advanced Licensed Coach and has been accredited by Swimming Australia since 2003. Yuriy holds a Master’s Degree in Coaching and Sports Administration.

Current Role: Yuriy is the Head Coach of Woden Valley Swim Club, where he leads training programs for competitive swimmers. Additionally, he oversees the Masters Program and actively coaches part of the Masters programme.

  • Former Head Coach of the Paralympic High-Performance Centre at the AIS.
  • Swimming Australia & ASCTA Paralympic Program Coach of the Year (2014)
  • Commonwealth Games Paralympic Coach of the Meet (2018)

Coaching Career in Ukraine

Before relocating to Australia, Yuriy held several prestigious coaching positions in Ukraine:

  • Senior Coach at the State Institute of Sport for 12 years
  • Head Coach of the Ukrainian Paralympic Swim Team for 11 years
  • Awarded the title of ‘Honoured Coach of Ukraine’ in 1998.

Anne Smyth     MSNSW Coach Director, MSA Coach Educator, Tuggeranong Head Coach

Anne is MSNSW Branch Coaching Director, a member of the Masters Swimming Australia Coaching Committee, Head Coach of Tuggeranong Masters and was NSW and National Coach of the Year in 2014. 

Anne has been involved in Masters Swimming for over 15 years and is a keen competitor in pool and open water competitions. Anne has been a swimming instructor for over 40 years with AUSTSWIM and as a Primary PE teacher.  Anne is passionate about developing coaches’ knowledge and improving swimmers’ stroke efficiency.

Greg Gourley    MSNSW Coach and Tuggeranong Club Coach

Greg has been a qualified and active coach at Tuggeranong Masters Swimming Club since 2013 and was National Coach of the year in 2019 and 2020.

Over recent years Greg has delivered coaching clinics for clubs and or coaches on behalf of Masters Swimming NSW and Masters Swimming Australia. 

Greg’s coaching focus is on improving each individual swimmers’ style and increasing their swimming fitness and performance whilst still having fun.

Rob Wilson    MSA National Coaching Education Coordinator, MSV Coach Educator and Mornington Peninsula Masters Club Coach

Rob has been coaching since 2014 and has coached at Malvern Marlins, MH2O for Anita Killmier, Virgin Active and for the new Mornington Peninsula Masters club. Rob was Masters Swimming Victoria Coach of the Year in 2020.

Rob is passionate about promoting the motto of Masters Swimming “fitness, friendship and fun”, through coaching and encouraging, where possible, cradle-to grave swimming offerings as a way to keep Masters as a thriving organisation in Australia and Victoria.

Sharing ideas amongst coaches is always important and Rob is looking forward to picking up some new approaches to include in his coaching.

Di Coxon-Ellis    MSNSW Coach and MSA Coach Educator

  • Joined Masters Swimming in 1985
  • Completed Masters Coaching course in approx. 1990
  • NSW Branch Coaching Director 1994 to 1998
  • MSNSW Branch Administrator 1998 – 2011 organising and presenting at many courses during this period
  • MSNSW Branch Coaching Director 2012 to Jan 2021 (succeeded by Anne Smyth)
  • National Coaching Committee member from 2014 to present
  • NCC Chair from October 2019 to October 2024

Di assisted in development of the online Club Coach Course and Coach Educators group and the guidelines for the assessment of Club Coach modules.

A work in progress is the enhancement of Masters Swimming in the bigger picture of Australian Swimming and the improvement in participation in SWIMCON.

Di is proud to have been part of coaching development for over 10 years on the NCC and over 30 years in MSNSW. She is hoping to continue to assist MSA in the delivery of the strategic plan well into the future as coaching is the backbone of this wonderful organisation.

Greg Lewin     MSNSW Coach Presenter, Ryde Masters Head Coach 

Greg has been a Masters Swimming Coach for numerous years and was awarded NSW and National Coach of the Year in 2018.

Greg has presented many workshops for MSNSW, including the NSW Coach Conference in 2022.  His area of expertise is Breaststroke, and he is passionate about developing coaching knowledge and swimmer expertise across all strokes.
